Now that my sister and I are adults, we occasionally share our memories with each other since we grew up in different houses together. We thought, at the time, that we were sharing our childhood, but in retrospect, we must have lived in parallel universes. (univi?)
Here's a memory my sister doesn't even have because she was only 2 or 3 years old. My mother has since informed me, though that it is entirely false. Sad, because it was such fun. I hope my Mom decides to leave her side of the story in the comment section, for your enjoyment.
When I was a little girl, my mother and her friends had a wedding party when Luke & Laura got married. We all went to one house, dressed in wedding-attending clothes and enjoyed a potluck-feast-buffet while the ladies watched the wedding on TV. When the wedding was over, we went home. Just like a real wedding. I still remember the song that played, in fact it was on my Pandora playlist today. Do you remember Luke & Laura's wedding? I wonder what memories my kids will have that aren't true, and if there will be 6 different versions of it.

apparently because I have the word drugs three times, crap twice and sex once. Funny, I would have chosen a totally different order.

Oh that is funny because my oldest seems to remember things that never happened too. She will often say to me "Mom remember when we did _________?" And I have to say I have no idea what your talking about. That never happened. How sad!
As it really happened:
Yes, I was an avid watcher of General Hospital. Yes, we were excited about Luke & Laura getting married. However, the wedding party Mrs. H remembers was an actual wedding we attended, the weekend before Luke & Laura’s. The wedding was a really A BIG event with all the trimmings! There was a lot of talk about the TV nuptials, and we did watch GH before the rehearsal dinner that Friday. Mrs. H’s sister was actually 4 ½+ and Mrs. H was almost 7. They did get dressed up in new clothes bought especially for the event. There was a huge feast at the reception. Someone may have had a TV going in another part of the reception hall. And when the wedding was over, we did go home. I guess her Grandma and I talked about it a lot. What a wonderfully impressionable age! Actually, she was in school when Luke & Laura’s wedding aired. I only found out a couple of years ago that she associated the big TV wedding with the one we actually enjoyed. If she has to have a false memory, I’m glad it was a fun one like this and not something over which she’d need intensive therapy. I had fun at the real wedding, and I like her version, too. Just for the record, my sister & I grew up in parallel universes as well.
Mrs. H’s Mom
That must have been so much fun! My sisters and I are always thinking of things we remember from the past and they are always accusing me of making things up. They just don't have my good memory!
