Leaf wars

Gotta love him.

Dh is taking a stand against Autumn.

Damned leaves.

This is the neighbor's tree, and every year it blows so many leaves into our yard. Last year, we bagged up over 200 bags of leaves.

Not only are their leaves in our yard, but their dog likes to run around loose, knocking over trash cans and spreading garbage all over the lawn.

So this year, DH is blowing all of the leaves from our driveway, and the two houses adjacent to ours, back where they came from.

This morning, I was making fun of him because I predicted the wind would just blow them all right back into our driveway. Now, though- it smells like snow, so it's quite possible that they could end up with a sticky, sloppy mess of leaves in their yard.

Pity, I know it isn't their fault that it's Fall. They didn't plant the tree, it's like 50-100 years old. HOWEVER- It's annoying to rake up hundreds of bags of leaves, pay for all the bags, pay for the trash service to pick them up, and risk having their trash-bag-loving dog tear them up while they're sitting.

It's this type of stubbornness that has kept us in business for the past 5 years.

If you click on the picture, you'll see that only 10% of the leaves have fallen.
The 80 yr old man next door gets up every morning at 7 AM and rakes leaves.

The neighbors called the police on DH, but when they came out, they confirmed that there's no law against blowing leaves. He's not allowed to step on their property without permission; that could be trespassing. That's OK because he didn't plan to.

I've gotta admit, it's so nice being able to actually SEE my driveway when I come home.

BTW- no baby yet. Maybe tomorrow.
